Generally, anything that is form fitting, covers the torso, and allows for movement is fine. No dresses, jeans, or jewelry, and hair must be secured away from the face. Shirts must be form-fitting OR tucked in—baggy t-shirts or tunics are not acceptable.
For a more detailed explanation of the dress code, please see the Safety Handbook.

Our address is 1739-B Allied Street. We are located in the McIntire Plaza, right off the 250 bypass.
Our location is the purple building with big yellow letters that spell PARKING. The door is in that alley—please be aware of cars.
Students more than 10 minutes late will not be admitted to class, so we strongly encourage you to allow 5 extra minutes to your travel time to find parking.
-
We allow inside observation, but reserve the right to ask anyone to leave if they are distracting a student.

The best piece of advice we can give is to trust your instinct. You know your little Gryphon best!
Here are some general guidelines:
If your child consistently:
needs assistance with clothes & hygiene in the bathroom
struggles with separation, self-regulation, or fear management
has not yet mastered two-foot jumps on a flat surface, balancing on one foot on both sides
has not yet mastered safe swinging: grip bar/rings, lift feet to hover/swing, dismount to feet
Has difficulty completing 2 tasks in a row. (i.e. “Straddle and roll,” “stand on the spot and jump” )
…then a Cub or Tiny Tiptoes class (child & caregiver) is probably your best bet.
If your child consistently:
uses the bathroom independently from beginning to end
succeeds at other independent activities (i.e. music class, daycare)
self-regulates and manages fear (or can be guided through those things by an instructor)
can jump to two feet on a flat surface, balance on one foot on both sides
can grip a bar/rings, lift their feet to hover or swing, and dismount to feet
can follow 2-3 directions in a row (i.e. “Straddle, stretch, and roll,” “Find a star, stand on it, and Relevé”)
…then a Wonder Wing or any 3-5 year old dance class is the best fit.
-
Basically, it means newcomers are welcome, but there are a few expectations in terms of skill-set and behavior that you should consider while registering.
1. New participants of the Mighty Mane class should be able to consistently:
Take class without separation issues
Stay on the spot while directions are being given
Jump and land safely on two feet
Support body weight on straight arms without collapsing
Move across the low beam independently
Swing and dismount safely on bars/rings (i.e grip the apparatus and dismount to their feet without falling)
If your child is unable to do more than one of these things, consider trying a Wonder Wing class first.
New participants to the Grade School Program should be able to consistently:
Take class without separation issues
Stay on the spot while directions are being given
Be willing to try new things and ask for help if they need it
Gymnastics: Support body weight on straight arms without collapsing, jump on two feet, balance on one foot, invert without panic
Ballet: Jump on two feet, balance on one foot, copy and improvise movements without falling down
Students do not need to have taken gymnastics or dance before, but it is helpful if they have taken some sort of fitness class. If your child has never taken a fitness class and is unable to do more than one of these things, please contact us and we will work together to find a class that fits your needs.
-
Active supervision means you will be expected to participate in class with your child and you will be their primary spotter.
Direct supervision means you will be expected to keep an eye on your child, but does not involve physically participating in class on your part.
All Child & Caregiver classes are Active Participation classes. Open Gyms are Direct Supervision.

The gryphon is a mythical creature that is half lion (ruler of the land), and half eagle (ruler of the sky).
Gymnasts & dancers rule both land and sky, so they are gryphons too!
(Also, Coach Abby loves Alice in Wonderland, which features a gryphon).
