Our top priorities are what we call our
Triple S Philosophy:
safety
Our highest priority is keeping our students and instructors safe. We require all instructors to be certified in USAG Safety, First Aid/CPR, and CDC Concussion Safety. We also attend regional and national conferences and numerous online trainings every year. Daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks and cleanings on our equipment ensure it is up to the highest standards.
service
We want you to feel seen, heard, and supported! Our instructors are available before and after each class to address any concerns or questions you may have, and are always reachable via email. Respectful communication is critical in order to build skills for students, and relationships with parents; our door is always open for constructive feedback.
support
To us, support means more than spotting. We want to make sure every child feels special—because they are! We believe positive reinforcement is the best way to grow skills, build confidence, and nurture relationships with our students. We really love what we do, and keeping a positive attitude and energetic teaching style reflects that to students and parents alike.
meet our founder, Abby!
Abby Reid is a Charlottesville native and the daughter of two former elementary school teachers. Her mother also taught dance locally for 30+ years at the Dance Studio (later DanCenter). Abby spent her formative years tagging along to classes with her mom, later training at the studio six days a week—a true “studio rat.”
Abby was also a successful competitive gymnast and diver. She reached JO level 8 in gymnastics, and as a high school diver placed top 3 in the VA state meet three times, including winning the State championship in 2000. In 2001, Abby was one of around 25 dancers accepted into the Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts, and went on to receive her BFA in Dance Education and a license to teach dance in schools K-12 from East Carolina University.
She has been teaching dance since around 2000 and coaching gymnastics since 2003; she likes to say gymnastics has her heart & dance has her soul. She has taught for several years at each gym in Charlottesville and coached at Rose’s Gymnastics of Greenville, NC during college. As a competitive coach, she loved coaching beam & choreographing floor routines, and she trained multiple VA state champions. Her varied experiences over the years have helped her develop a unique and comprehensive curriculum, one that utilizes the strengths from each place she has taught.
